Meals on Wheels
These programs are designed for older adults in need of help with proper nutrition. One (1) noon-day meal is provided to individuals 60+ at no charge, five days a week to eligible home-bound individuals, or, at one of two meal sites in the parish. The nutrition department utilizes the services of a Louisiana licensed dietitian to plan the menus and ensure sound nutrition. Meals provide 1/3 (RDA) recommended daily allowances.

Eligibility is determined by GOEA requirements. Meals are provided by donations to the NPCOA.
Congregate Meals
(NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME)
Daily, fresh, prepared meals for older adults provided in a group setting at a meal site allowing them to socialize and interact. Congregate meals are provided at the following sites:
Home Delivered Meals
Daily hot meals provided to home-bound seniors with incapacitating disabilities, live alone or are unable to leave their home unassisted. This program not only delivers a hot, nutritious meal but also provides critical social interaction, checking in on the well-being of the older adult.
Meal routes in the Parish are:
- Campti/ Clarence/ Black Lake Route
- Derry/Natchez/East Route
- Provencal Route
- Shady Grove/Oak Grove Route
- West Natchitoches Route
Eligibility is determined by use of the GOEA nutrition screening initiative score assessment.
Food Distribution
350+ households are served monthly in Natchitoches Parish.
- Food for Seniors: Forty-pound (40lb) boxes of food are delivered to qualified senior citizens on the fourth Thursday of each month. Provided by the NPCOA in conjunction with the Catholic Charities of Baton Rouge.
- Senior Farmers Market: Nutrition Produce Program through the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry provides coupons for approved older adults to purchase produce from certified vendors. $24 coupons per year.
